What Makes The Hoverboard So Awesome?

The Hoverboard is a Tesla, compressed down to scooter-size. We’ve designed the components that deliver the MOST POWER of any comparable PEV (Personal Electric Vehicle), unprecedented Range/Weight, Power/Weight and Power/Volume ratios.

Tilt forward to accelerate, tilt back to brake or go the other way – simple as that.

The Drive Unit

At the center of the Hoverboard is the “Drive Unit”. This removable module that contains the Direct-Drive, Industrial Class BLDC (Brushless Direct-Current) servomotor, bearings and position sensors. The Drive Unit is where most of the manufactured cost are concentrated. The drive unit is “Smart”, with a small micro-controller embedded to store all of it’s unique characteristics and present those to the Motor Control Unit. With this arrangement, Drive Units are simply interchangeable without any “tuning” or other calibration necessary – just swap and go. It is possible that in the future, there will be alternative Drive Units with different power levels or operating characteristics.

The hotel is located behind a private gated area with 24-hour security, giving guests an extra level of safety while staying at the resort. Upon arrival, guests are treated to a Champagne welcome and an easy check-in process done while sitting on comfy chairs rather than at a front desk.

One area where Azul really ups the all-inclusive game is with its dining choices. The property has nine restaurants, many of which use locally-sourced ingredients, and offer a variety of cuisines such as Thai, Caribbean, Italian and Mediterranean. Having experienced just about every restaurant, it’s easy to say that there’s not a bad eatery on site. At Hua Hin, guests can dine on contemporary Far East cuisine inside an elegant dining room dressed in East Asian décor. The atmosphere itself is fun and sexy while the food is flavorful and eclectic; a far cry from the typical all-inclusive fare.

When you’re not dining on fresh seafood and Jamaican fare, there is also plenty keep you busy. Along with seven pools (including kid’s areas), guests have access to the on-site watersports center where they can book a variety of activities for the day such as kayaks, paddleboards, boogie boards, canoes or Hobie Cats. There are land activities like ping pong; beach volleyball; basketball courts; yoga, dance and cooking classes; and a kid’s center for children aged 3-12. Of course, we wouldn’t judge you if choose simply to grab a floatie and spend the afternoon soaking up the sun in the island’s clear blue waters.

From the classic swooping facades and meticulous neon of the city’s signature deco designs to its nonstop beach life and vibrant party scenes, South Beach exemplifies a unique brand of Floridian oceanside chic. What’s more, the best of this nook of Miami can be enjoyed without a car – to get around quickly, utilize the excellent DecoBike sharing program, or your own two feet.

South Beach, also known as ‘SoBe,’ is perhaps known best for its sunny take on art deco architecture. Only in South Beach does this smooth Modernist style take on a particular hybrid of pastel palettes and sleek curves, buttresses and contours, meant to evoke early 20th century train and ocean travel.

A good starting point for anyone interested in this style is the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL), whose excellent walking tours are a must on any Miami itinerary. The MDPL was created in 1976, when the area was in decline. Many of these classic buildings would have been paved over if not for the efforts of South Beach resident and MDPL founder Barbara Baer Capitman, a child of German Jewish parents and socialist activist with a degree in art history and unquenchably feisty spirit. As of late 2014, the group also operates the Art Deco Museum.

Framing this building are the Colony and Beacon Hotels, both classic examples of South Beach deco design. The Colony is particularly noteworthy for being the oldest deco hotel in South Beach. See the enormous neon sign? We take it for granted that businesses use neon to attract customers, but the Colony was one of the earliest buildings to use this tactic, incorporating neon into its exterior design.

Walk north along Ocean Drive (on the beach side of the road so you can see the buildings) and you’ll be treated to a parade of deco’s greatest hits, including the retro-futuristic facade of the Carlyle (1250 Ocean Dr), where much of The Birdcage was filmed, and the simply beautiful Crescent (1420 Ocean Dr) and Congress (1052 Ocean Dr) hotels. Explore in the evening, when neon throws these buildings into beautiful multi-hued relief.

If you want a break from the deco scene, venture south of 5th St (conveniently referred to as ‘SoFi). Stuff yourself at Tap Tap, which whips up creative takes on Haitian cuisine, and wander the landscaped lanes around South Pointe Park, where you’ll often see models on photo shoots. In the evening, if you’re looking for quintessential South Beach sexiness, you’ll find it at the ridiculously over the top Nikki Beach restaurant and nightclub. Those desiring a chill night and craft beer would do well to sample from the excellent menu at the intimate little bar in The Room.

The larger battery pack is also available on the Model X, making the world’s quickest SUV even faster. Model X P100D with Ludicrous mode accelerates to 60 mph in 2.9* seconds and travels up to 289 miles EPA estimated and 542 km on the NEDC cycle on a single charge. Model X is also a pure electric SUV and can seat up to seven adults.

Model S and Model X are engineered to be the safest cars on the road and to have the highest ratings from NHTSA. Both have access to the Tesla Supercharger network for the freedom to travel long distance for free. And every Tesla will improve over time with free over the air upgrades.

Tesla customers who have ordered a P90D Ludicrous, but not taken delivery, can upgrade to the 100 kWh pack for $10,000. Existing P90D Ludicrous owners can also upgrade to a 100 kWh pack, but for $20,000, as their used 90 kWh pack will have to be recycled.

While the P100D Ludicrous is obviously an expensive vehicle, we want to emphasize that every sale helps pay for the smaller and much more affordable Tesla Model 3 that is in development. Without customers willing to buy the expensive Model S and X, we would be unable to fund the smaller, more affordable Model 3 development.

Banyan Tree started when founder Ho Kwon Ping and his wife Claire Chiang came across a plot of land while they were on holiday in Bang Tao Bay, on the western coast of Phuket in the Andaman Sea, and thought it would make an ideal location for a resort. They purchased the land and then discovered that it was an abandoned tin mine and too toxic to support vegetation or any developments. They embarked on a regeneration programme, reintroducing indigenous plants and building 7,000 trees. Ten years later in 1994, the first resort Banyan Tree Phuket was built.

In 2009, Banyan Tree Global Foundation was created as part of Banyan Tree Holdings Limited. The foundation serves as the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the group and works to enhance social, environmental and economic well-being. Projects under the foundation includes Greening Communities, Seedlings, and Earth Day.
